Yacht Club Board Meeting
Maybe the st john yacht club in the virgin islands will have a board meeting next week to discuss sailing issues. Maybe not. At least we have a website www.stjohnyachtclub.org. This has a lot of info about races in the virgin islands. And social activities. Even a section about st john, so you better look at it.

Well, well, well
Fifty posts for everyone today. That's a good statistic, worthy of mention here and in www.stjohntravelforum.com, which has villas on st john for vacation rentals. But why stop at fifty? Might as well make 100 as a goal, and then continue much further. Have to figure out where to get good text, since it is hard and slow to type. But if this was about Minnesota, then it would include references to lakes.

Patriots Draft Picks
Three linebackers, two cornerbacks, one quarterback, one kick returner/safety. This is undoubtedly the best draft of any team in the nfl. Looks like 19-0 again next year, and the lads will all be invited to st john.

Patriots Second Pick
The Patriots picked someone named Wheatley with their second pick. A wicked good cornerback who is wicked fast. He'll undoubtedly get some playing time. Might end up starting -- who knows. Hard to predict these guys. At least he should develop.

I guess it is time for the Yacht Club
The St. John Yacht Club made it into the search engines, but just briefly. Yahoo for a day or two, and then google at 25 or so and then 5 and then 15 so who knows where it will be today. I bet that it is somewhere. www.stjohnyachtclub.org. And maybe it will be listed with caribbean yacht clubs or st john yacht club, or even sail boat races.

St John USVI
St John in the USVI has loads of vacation villas. Therefore, it needs websites that list them for rentals. Like www.stjohntravelforum.com, for example. This would be the place to get wedding and honeymoon rentals, or even last-minute specials. Everything you want to know about st john is in this website, including a map and a webcam.

Villas on st john are for your vacation.
The st john travel forum can be found at www.stjohntravelforum.com, and it is absolutely full of villas that can be rented, including Caribsurf, Bougainvillea, Kismet, and In Harmony Retreat, just to name a few. And even maps and webcams of st john usvi. The best place to look for information about virgin islands vacation villas. Or anything at all -- restaurants, Cruz Bay, Coral Bay, etc.

Celtics are going to win again
Actually, the Celtics don't even play tonight. They play tomorrow night. So therefore, this is not really a worthwhile comment. It was the Bruins who played last night, and they lost 5-0. The Red Sox won yesterday 8-3, 5th straight win. Looking awesome, they improved to 14-7, which projects to 108-54 for the full season. We'll accept that, although the Red Sox will be favored in every game this season.

Mark Wallace story from today's "Source"
Island Expressions: Mark Wallace
by Lynda Lohr
Mark Wallace
April 20, 2008 -- By day, Mark Wallace helps build houses for Innovative Builders. But when the sun sets you'll find this St. John guitarist and singer in front of the microphone at a number of St. John bistros.
"I'm completely fascinated with the guitar," he said.
Wallace just came out with his first CD, "Cornerstone." It features a wide array of music, including jazz, swing, Irish jigs and Scottish lullabies.
Wallace, 54, loves to sing James Taylor songs and loves Frank Sinatra as well, "anything," he said, "that really catches my ear."
He cites Chet Atkins and Earl Klugh as the guitarists he most admires.
Wallace said he learned to play guitar in the fourth or fifth grade when his older brother started playing.
"I just picked it up," he said And he still plays with his brother when the two get together.
Born in Detroit, Wallace left teaching there to move to St. John in 1984 just as Tropical Storm Klaus was about to hit. The storm's arrival came after days and days of gray cloudy weather.
"It rained for two weeks," he said.
He moved at the suggestion of a student whose brother worked at Maho Bay Camps. "I had never heard of the Virgin Islands, so I just came," he said.
He soon settled in to life on St. John, but continued to study and play guitar.
He's now a family man, with wife Brenda and two sons, Kade, 7, and Landis, 8. Wallace said he recently bought a couple of acres of land in Fish Bay, which he cleared to make a football field next to his house so he can play with his boys.
Working full time during the day with Innovative Builders, playing music several nights and week and spending time with his family doesn't leave much free time. He said he and his wife are able to keep things on an even keel because St. John is small. For example, when he has to play music, he can drop the kids off to stay with his wife at her Mongoose Junction job.
"But in my spare time I practice guitar," he said, getting back to what's closest to his heart.
Catch Wallace from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at Ocean Grill in Mongoose Junction shopping center; from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays at Gecko Gazebo's open mike in Mongoose Junction; from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at Morgan's Mango restaurant in Cruz Bay; and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays at Aqua Bistro at Cocoloba shopping center in Coral Bay.

Celtics are favorites
The Boston Celtics are favorites to win the championship again. A few years off to re-group, and then POW Right In The Kisser to everyone else. KG, Paul, Ray lead the way, and the others are pretty good as well.

Bruins win
The Boston Bruins won yesterday 5-1 over montreal, getting to 2-3 in the series and bringing the series back to Boston for game 6. Why this has anything at all to do with www.frankbayvillas.com and villa rentals on st john usvi is beyond me. I don't even know any of the Bruins players any more. I used to know them all when I lived in Boston and they were the greatest. Esposito Cashman Hodge, Stanfield Bucyk McKenzie, Sanderson Walton Westfall, Orr Smith, Johnson and someone, Cheevers Johnston. That was it. I could remember the defenseman if I really tried.

The 37th post -- From The Source Today About Rain
This is from The Source today -- an article about the rain we had on St John, causing everyone to not use www.stjohnvillarental.com or even www.frankbayvillas.com. Instead, people went to Mongoose Junction and went shopping.
Rain Fills Cisterns, Forces Cancellations
by Lynda Lohr
National Weather Service radar showed heavy cloud coverage Monday evening. April 14, 2008 -- A disturbed area of weather over the Virgin Islands brought clouds and rain Monday, causing Seaborne Airlines to cancel flights and forcing the postponement of a Senate committee meeting. The weather should start to clear by Tuesday morning, but until then residents will see more rain, clouds and possibly thunderstorms, said Brian Sealey, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in San Juan. "There will be a tail of lingering moisture into tomorrow," he said. At Weather Station Zephyr, overlooking Coral Bay at Ajax Peak, 0.32 inches of rain fell between midnight and noon Monday. It more than doubled the amount of rain for the entire month of April. It seemed to be "raining a tad" on St. Thomas around 1:30 p.m., observed Steve Parris, acting director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency. With the lack of precipitation recently, the rainy weather is welcome, he said. Cisterns are filling and the landscape is sure to green up. "I'm sure everyone's blessing the fact that it's raining," Parris said. "This is definitely needed." Parris said he had no reports of any problems on St. Thomas due to the rain. Jacqueline Heyliger, deputy director at VITEMA on St. Croix, also reported no problems on her island. It rained in the morning there, but when contacted around 1:30 p.m. she said it had stopped. While residents might be happy about the rain, visitors probably weren't so pleased. There isn't much for visitors to do in V.I. National Park when it rains, so they flock to the Visitors' Center, said Paul Thomas, chief of interpretation at the park on St. John. "They ask, 'When is it going to stop raining?'" he said. The rainy weather did cause one cancellation: The Legislature's Education, Culture and Youth Committee called off its 10 a.m. meeting at Earle B. Ottley Legislative Chambers on St. Thomas because senators couldn't fly from St. Croix to make up a quorum. The meeting was rescheduled for June 4 at the same location, according to Hectito Francis of the Legislature's Media Services. Senators couldn't get from St. Thomas to St. Croix because Seaborne Airlines had to cancel some of its flights. When conditions opened up on St. Thomas they closed on St. Croix and vice-versa, said Chief Executive Officer Omer ErSelcuk. "It's a big chess game," he said. Low clouds and rain created poor visibility, ErSelcuk said. Customers can rebook for flights Tuesday.

Henry the lap cat
Henry the lap cat jumped up onto my lap yesterday and helped me play pinball. This was hardly worthy of mention in www.stjohntravelforum.com, even though it was news about st john in the virgin islands. And it is not going to be mentioned in the st john yacht club website which is www.stjohnyachtclub.org, and is about carribean virgin islands yacht clubs.

Celtics win in OT
Last night the Boston Celtics won again. They were way ahead entering the 4th quarter and then played substitutes the rest of the way. The gallant lads probably want to read www.frankbayvillas.com and rent vacation villas on St. John USVI Virgin Islands, but I think they should finish the season first.

What Next?
The Bruins won last night, clinching a playoff berth. But the Red Sox got cheated by blatant bad umpiring. What can we do about them? They are only 3-2 this year. 1-1 in Japan, 2-0 in California, and 0-1 in Canada. They should rent a villa from www.stjohnvillarental.com, I believe, for their next trip to St. John, USVI vacation villas. If not, they will get something nowhere near as good.
